7 Things to Check Before Your First RV Road Trip

Your first RV trip should be about campfires and scenic drives, not roadside surprises. Before you pull out of the driveway, our service team recommends running through these seven checks.
- Tires: check pressure (including the spare) when the tires are cold, and look for cracks or uneven wear.
- Hitch and safety chains: confirm the coupler is locked, the chains are crossed, and the breakaway cable is attached.
- Lights: test running lights, brake lights and turn signals with a helper.
- Propane: check tank levels and do a quick leak test with soapy water on the fittings.
- Batteries: make sure house batteries are charged and terminals are clean.
- Slide-outs and awning: extend and retract each one at home so you know they work.
- Water system: fill the fresh tank and run each faucet to clear air from the lines.
Not sure where to start? Book a pre-trip inspection with our service department and we'll go over everything for you.
